Tech Priorities 2021 (3): How to give your global operations a digital facelift

Digitization is a key driver for better business outcomes in a variety of sectors. Within production the focus lies on integration of IT and Operational Technology (OT) for optimized processes and efficiency – supported by modern, agile and future-proof digital infrastructures.

In the new Leading Lights Boardroom season, the focus is strongly on IT priorities for 2021: the things that CIOs and IT decision makers really need to tackle in order to create business value. In each session we will show real-life IT projects that create value in the long term – through optimization of resources, competencies and technology.

In the third session it’s all about giving your global enterprise a digital facelift. This virtual meeting will be introduced by Peter Billiau, CIO of Yara International and hosted by Joris van Oers, MD Resources, Logistics and Manufacturing & Europe at BT’s Global unit.

Yara’s digital facelift

Yara International is a company with 16.000 employees in 60 countries. It’s ambition is to be the Nutrition Company for the future. To achieve this, Yara has taken the lead in developing digital farming tools for precision farming and work closely with partners throughout the food value chain to improve the efficiency and sustainability of agriculture and food production.

How to face-lift a 115 year old multinational into the digital farming company of the future? During his keynote, Peter Billiau will tell a real-life story about translating Yara’s ambitious vision into the technology landscape, changing the mindset of the organisation and uplifting its skills. He will focus on the elevated importance of the underlying infrastructure to protect against cyber threats, enhance the traceability of assets and making digital operations more agile. In addition he will highlight the the advantages – but also the struggles – of the “servant leadership model”.

Upcoming sessions

Other meetings will tackle topics such as customer experience transformation, optimizing supply chains, and end-to-end optimization of digital operations, with guest speakers from Nestlé, Diebold Nixdorf and Bridgestone.
